Before you book

What pet friendly cabins in Hocking Hills should offer.

Dog friendly Hocking Hills cabins come with very different rules. Some Hocking Hills cabins that allow pets add a fee per dog or per night, some cap you at one or two dogs, and some have nowhere for a dog to stretch its legs. Ask about all three before you book.

Here's how Serenity Lodge compares with other Hocking Hills pet friendly cabins: up to 4 dogs, no pet fee, and 97 acres with no neighbors in sight. It's also a Hocking Hills cabin with hot tub, so the people get something after the hike too.

“We looked for a place that we could let our dogs run off leash and this met that requirement in spades.”

Questions about bringing your dog.

All FAQs and house rules

Are Hocking Hills cabins pet friendly?

Some are, and the rules vary from cabin to cabin: a cap on the number of dogs, a size limit, or a fee per dog or per night. Ask before you book. At Serenity Lodge, up to 4 dogs are welcome with no pet fee, and 97 private acres give them room to run.

How many dogs can we bring?

You can bring up to 4 dogs, with no pet fee. Please crate them when they're alone in the cabin (a large crate is there for you), keep them off the furniture and pick up after them. If your dog sleeps with you, bring a blanket or comforter from home to put over the bed.

Is the yard fenced?

No, the yard isn't fenced. The backyard is open, and beyond it are 97 acres of fields and woods with no neighbors in sight. Guests whose dogs come back when called often let them run in the fields. If yours tends to wander, bring a long lead, and remember the state park trails need a 6-foot leash.

Which Hocking Hills trails allow dogs?

Leashed dogs are allowed on Hocking Hills State Park trails, including Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, Rock House and Cantwell Cliffs. The leash can't be longer than 6 feet. Conkle's Hollow is a state nature preserve, and pets aren't allowed there. Our guide to Hocking Hills dog friendly trails has the details.

What should we bring for our dog?

Bring food, bowls, a leash of 6 feet or less for the park trails, towels for muddy paws and bags for cleanup. If your dog sleeps on the bed, pack a blanket or comforter to cover it. A large crate is already at the cabin, and there's no pet fee to budget for.
