The main Hocking Hills zip line outfitter is Hocking Hills Canopy Tours in Rockbridge, running since 2007. Its zip options run from a low kids' course for ages 5 to 12 to a quarter-mile SuperZip off an 85-foot tower. As of October 2026, prices start at $35 for the short courses and $109 for the full canopy tours.

Every detail below comes from the outfitter's own site, checked on October 26, 2026. Prices and seasons change, so confirm when you book.

Which tour fits your group

For a first time, the Original Canopy Tour is the company's original course, a guided route through the trees with cables and skybridges. The course itself takes about 2 hours, but plan on 3 with check-in and the ride out.

The X Tour is the same length and price, with 11 zip lines on a mix of trees and towers. Pick it if someone in your group has zipped before.

The SuperZip is the quick thrill: two riders launch side by side and race down a quarter mile of cable. At $35, it's an easy add-on for anyone 8 or older who doesn't want a full tour.

For younger kids, and one of the best things to do in Hocking Hills with kids, the DragonFly course is built for ages 5 to 12, with staff on the ground beside each child the whole way. A parent or guardian has to be there, and grown-ups watch from the ground.

Rules to know before you book

  • Wear closed-toe shoes and fitted clothes, tie back long hair, and empty your pockets.
  • Everyone is weighed at check-in, so the weight limits are firm.
  • Kids 10 to 15 need an adult on the grounds, and anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to sign the waiver.
  • Arrive 30 minutes before your tour time, or you lose the reservation.
  • Pregnant guests and anyone under the influence can't ride.
  • Tours run in the rain but stop for lightning and high winds.

Season and booking

Hocking Hills Canopy Tours is open from mid-March through November, and seven days a week from June through October. Book online through the company's site or call ahead.

At our cabin, October weekends book first, so reserve a zip tour for fall color early too. A weekday tour also saves $20 a person on the full canopy tours, and shorter Discovery Tours start at $89.

The same outfitter runs a guided off-road Segway tour and the Rockbridge Encounter, a walk to what it calls Ohio's largest natural rock bridge. The bridge is in Rockbridge State Nature Preserve, where Ohio DNR says it's more than 100 feet long and spans a ravine. Pets aren't allowed in the preserve.

For a second course, Valley Zipline Tours in Lancaster has 9 lines and about 5,000 feet of zip line, and it has operated since 2012. Its site doesn't list ages or prices, so call before you go.

Zip line or hike?

A zip tour fills a half day, like Hocking Hills kayaking or Hocking Hills horseback riding, so plan it for a day when the trails are crowded or the forecast is gray but calm. Pair a morning tour with an easy walk to Ash Cave. For longer trails, see our ranking of the best Hocking Hills hikes.

In fall, a tour puts you in the canopy right as the color turns. Our guide to Hocking Hills fall colors covers when that happens.

Our pick

For most families, the best Hocking Hills zip line plan is the Original Canopy Tour for everyone 10 and up, plus the DragonFly for younger kids at the same stop. Book a weekday if you can, and add the SuperZip for the thrill-seekers.
